Our Expertise

Our Technology

At Seltzer Caplan McMahon Vitek we believe that a proper use of technology results in better and more efficient legal services. We have developed an excellent Information Services Department to provide our firm and its clients timely, effective technology advice and assistance. Our Information Services Department has designed, installed and maintains a robust network to support our operations and an effective Internet web site, coupled with Extranet capabilities to serve our clients' needs.

Client Communication

Seltzer Caplan McMahon Vitek has state of the art communications capabilities. We have fully automated fax services, allowing our clients to fax documents directly to our attorneys' computers, and allowing our attorneys to fax documents from their desktops to our clients.

We also have full e-mail capabilities, including firm provided encryption services. The firm has licensed WorldTalk's WorldSecure Server for itself and for our clients. With WorldSecure Server, we can provide fully encrypted e-mail communications with our clients, without relying on the sender remembering to encrypt each message as it is sent. This secure link is easily established, at no cost to our clients, and often without the need to install any software at our client's site. Instructions to set-up encrypted email are available on WorldTalk's web site at http://download.worldtalk.com/scmv/.

The WorldSecure Server also provides e-mail virus checking. Viruses are a major threat to information security. Seltzer Caplan McMahon Vitek employs four different layers of virus protection on our network to guard against virus problems. Our WorldSecure Server provides one of these layers by scanning each e-mail entering or exiting our firm for known viruses. This system automatically updates its pattern files every day to ensure that it has the latest virus information available.

Trial Presentation Services

Seltzer Caplan McMahon Vitek is a leader in trial presentation techniques. We have used computerized trial presentation since the early 1990's, when very few other firms even knew of this technology. Use of computers in the courtroom now has become very commonplace. It shortens the length of a trial by speeding up the process of locating and presenting evidence. It also allows the trial team to better show the jury our client's position. In these days of 30-second television spots and quick news briefs on the six o'clock news, most people have become accustomed to learning via short multimedia presentations. Our trial presentation approach maximizes our attorney's ability to inform the jury using these proven techniques.

Seltzer Caplan's Information Services staff is a recognized leader in providing these services. We would be happy to provide you with a demonstration of our capabilities.
