Jason M. Santana

Associate

Jason M. Santana is an associate with the firm.  His practice focuses on general civil litigation, with an emphasis in business and real property disputes.  Mr. Santana’s experience includes matters involving business torts, partnership disputes, title insurance litigation, insurance bad faith defense, commercial landlord-tenant issues, and internal corporate investigations.  Mr. Santana is also a member of the firm’s Recruiting Committee.


Education Background

Mr. Santana received his B.A., cum laude, from Western Washington University in 1997 and his J.D., with honors, from the University of Washington School of Law in 2004.

Employment Background

Prior to joining Seltzer Caplan McMahon Vitek, Mr. Santana was a strategic business development intern with Intel Corporation. He also served as an intern with the Washington State Department of Corrections’ Community Corrections Division. Mr. Santana spent the summer of 2003 working for Seltzer Caplan McMahon Vitek as a summer associate.

Representative Matters

  • Obtained judgment and award of attorney fees for commercial landlord in bench trial of breach of lease claim
  • Represented property owner in complex litigation over easement rights, resulting in a judgment for client and award of attorney fees
  • Represented individuals in complex litigation with their former business advisor and partner, resulting in beneficial settlement for our clients
  • Defended and prosecuted real property title insurance claims
  • Successfully defended general partner against claims brought by plaintiff seeking to enforce alleged partnership interest
  • Obtained summary judgment for developer against various claims stemming from sale of condominium unit
  • Represented multi-national property and casualty insurer in bad faith litigation
  • Represented individual in defense of various claims stemming from former partnership with plaintiff, resulting in plaintiff dropping all claims on eve of trial
  • Represented leading media management company, and its divisions, in various breach of contract actions
  • Represented homeowner against claims brought by administrator of estate seeking to rescind transfer of title, resulting in a settlement beneficial to our client
  • Represented CEO of Indian tribe in complex business litigation, which resulted in summary judgment and award of attorney fees for our client
  • Represented commercial landlords and tenants in unlawful detainer and related disputes
