Rachel M. Scatizzi
Associate
Rachel M. Scatizzi is an associate with the firm. Her practice emphasizes general civil litigation and family law, with a focus on contested custody and paternity matters and high asset dissolution cases. Ms. Scatizzi also is licensed to practice law in Missouri and Illinois.
Education Background
Ms. Scatizzi received her Bachelor of Journalism degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Missouri in 2001. She earned her J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis in 2005. While in law school Ms. Scatizzi was an associate editor of the Global Studies Law Review, recipient of awards for excellence in oral advocacy, and participated in several national trial competitions.
Employment Background
Prior to joining Seltzer Caplan McMahon Vitek, Ms. Scatizzi was an associate at a law firm in St. Louis, where she also served as the firm’s pro bono coordinator. Ms. Scatizzi also worked as a law clerk for the Hon. Michael J. Reagan of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, and as a mock trial coach at Washington University School of Law. While attending Washington University School of Law, Ms. Scatizzi interned with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Illinois.

In addition to receiving ancillary training throughout the country on adoption and assisted reproductive technology, Ms. Scatizzi has assisted clients with:
- All aspects of the dissolution of marriage process, including child custody and visitation, temporary and permanent support orders, business valuations and complex property division
- Mediated settlement agreements
- Negotiation, drafting and review of pre-marital agreements, post-marital agreements and parentage agreements
- Post-dissolution modifications of custody and visitation, child support and spousal support
- Enforcement of judgment and actions to set aside judgment
- Domestic violence restraining orders
