Tamatha Clemens Receives YWCA TWIN Award

SCMV is pleased to announce that Tamatha Clemens has been honored by the YWCA of San Diego County with a 2018 Tribute to Women & Industry (TWIN) Award, one of the most prestigious awards given by YWCA nationwide.

The TWIN award recognizes women in a managerial, executive or leadership role for their outstanding tenacity and achievements. TWIN honorees are inducted into a longstanding, prestigious group that has honored women since 1980.

Of counsel at SCMV, Tamatha has devoted her nearly 21-year legal career exclusively to the area of family law, guiding people through every aspect of family law cases. She has the specialized expertise to advise and represent clients when the personal, financial and emotional stakes are high. She has experience in both settling and litigating all aspects of family law, including child custody and support issues, spousal support matters, division of property (including community businesses), domestic violence restraining orders, domestic partnerships and navigating through extremely high asset, complex family law matters.

According to Tamatha, family law is one of the most difficult, if not the most difficult area of law to practice,  however, it is the most rewarding.  “As an attorney, you are helping a person with decisions about their children and usually, about their entire life estate.  These are the most important things in anyone’s life,” she said.

Outside of work, Tamatha strongly believes in paying it forward. As a member of the Lawyers Club of San Diego, she devotes her time to addressing gender-discrimination issues in the law, the profession and the community. She is also a member of the Santee School District Board Advisory Committee and regularly volunteers with Central Elementary School.

Tamatha, along with 18 other remarkable female leaders, was honored at the annual In the Company of Women benefit luncheon on May 4. Click here for the full list of honorees.
