Trials and Tribulations: The Challenges Facing Women Trial Attorneys
Sandra Joan Morris, counsel at SCMV and head of the firm’s Family Law Group, will participate on a panel of top women trial lawyers at an upcoming MCLE event celebrating International Women’s Day. The luncheon event, organized by Lawyers’ Club of San Diego’s North County Committee, will takes place at noon on Thursday, March 8 at Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear, and the panel will discuss the challenges facing women trial lawyers.
Ms. Morris was one of only five women to graduate from California Western School of Law in 1969, at a time when women were excluded from professional networking groups and law firms would not hire women. She was one of the “Founding Mothers” of Lawyers’ Club, organized to provide support for women in the law and to advocate for the advancement of women. She was also one of the first women to become a diplomate of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers, an invitation-only organization of the top 100 family law trial lawyers in the US, as well as the first woman in San Diego to be admitted as a Fellow to the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) in 1981. She was elected national president of AAML in 2002.
