San Diego Symphony’s Bayside Concert Venue to Open Summer 2020
Congratulations to our client, the San Diego Symphony, on the approval of its Bayside Performance Park to be located in Embarcadero Marina Park South on the San Diego Bay. The BPP will be a permanent performance venue with a capacity of 10,000 guests, will incorporate a world-class design and will operate year-round for Symphony concerts, guest artists and corporate rentals.
SCMV Shareholder Scott Williams is a vital part of the team that has worked for several years to obtain all the necessary approvals for the new venue from the Port of San Diego and the California Coastal Commission, including certification of an Environmental Impact Report, a Port Master Plan Amendment, a Coastal Development Permit and, most recently, a long-term lease. Scott has also helped negotiate and draft contracts with various consultants, contractors and service providers.
"Scott made invaluable contributions to the process," said Martha Gilmer, CEO of San Diego Symphony. "His deep understanding of California’s land use and environmental law combined with a commitment to problem solving guided the successful navigation of the project’s complicated regulatory requirements"
With the Symphony Board of Trustees’ final approval of the project on August 14, construction on the $45 million dollar project is set to begin in September with the first concerts scheduled for summer 2020.
